What does it mean to be part of Assaya Sangha?
We welcome you with open arms. Everyone who practices with us is part of the Assaya sisterhood. We are working together to shape this sangha into a place where differences are celebrated and everyone feels safe and respected. We are a community of learners guided by the Dharma and the Buddhist principles of non-harming (sila).
We are a member-centered and supported sangha. The interests of the community drive the type of programs, outreach, and personal support that we offer. To sustain and flourish, we rely on our community members for their dedication, service, and enthusiasm for Dharma and the community.

What does it mean to be a Sustaining Community Sister?
A Sustaining Community Sister is a sangha member who gives back (dana) to the community through sangha service or as a sustaining donor, or both. To be self-sustaining and an ever-growing, thriving community, it is imperative that the community at large is involved in Assaya’s operations. To be part of a community means actively being part of a reciprocal exchange of giving and receiving.
Being a Sustaining Community Sister is not an exclusive opportunity, and those who participate are not held higher than any other in the Assaya Sisterhood. We believe all have something of value to offer the community, and it is made open to all. To be a Sustaining Community Sister comes from one's sense of gratitude and ability to give back.

Be a Sustaining Community Sister
We can’t do what we do without you! There are several ways to give back to the Assaya Sangha as a Sustaining Community Sister. Choose to participate in one or both options. Please note that we need both financial contributions and volunteer power to be sustainable and healthy.
Be a sustaining donor
We have big dreams! Giving a monthly donation will support the communities interests and pay for rental space, necessary software, guest teachers, and Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee (DIB). Choose the amount that works best for you. You can change or cancel your donation at any time. |
Be a sustaining service member
We need Women's Power! There is a lot happening behind and in front of the curtain. Our volunteer roles range from setting up chairs to leadership to data entry and more. There is something for everyone’s skillsets, abilities, and interests. We need your help. Fill out a short form to let us know what area of service you are interested in. Our volunteer sister will be in contact with you to help find the perfect fit. |
Celebrating the Dharma Sisterhood
It’s important to celebrate the community we have become, how we are growing and learning together, and offer gratitude to those who continue to give back to support us all.
We come together in ceremonies to take refuge and re-commit to our dedication to non-harming and harmony. We offer gratitude to our Sustaining Community Sisters and other community members, recognizing them for their generosity. These ceremonies are open to all.
