About Shakthi
Shakthi Ganeshan takes deep joy in the transformative power of mindfulness practices as taught by the Buddha. With over 25 years of immersion in the Dharma, she is dedicated to making these teachings accessible and relevant, particularly for women and people of color who face unique stressors and challenges. Her teaching invites all individuals to discover greater happiness and freedom.
Shakthi began her career as a medical doctor before transitioning to holistic healing. She currently functions as a master yoga teacher, Ayurvedic guide, and mindfulness teacher. Her childhood scriptural studies, chanting, and meditation practices, and her ongoing study of yoga, support her connection to the Buddha Dharma, teaching, and practice.
She has undertaken extensive meditation training, including multi-month retreats at Insight Meditation Society (IMS) and Spirit Rock, under the guidance of teachers such as James Baraz, Jack Kornfield, and Joseph Goldstein. In 2017 she completed the Community Dharma Leaders program and is one of the Founding Mothers of Assaya Sangha.
Shakthi enjoys cooking nourishing Ayurvedic meals, singing in song circles, sacred dance to nurture the soul, and hiking to connect with nature.
