At the end of each year, we come together as a community for the Winter Solstice. It's an opportunity to practice together and reflect on the year we've had. It's also a time when we honor the wisdom of nature and the poetry of these darker winter days, and find gratitude and joy in the light we create by being together.

The first hour will be a community time to sip tea and eat sweets with a dessert potluck. At around 3 pm, the Assaya teachers will lead the community in meditation, dharma reflection, movement, and music. We'll engage in a ceremony together, receiving protection cords. It will be a heart-warming afternoon and a beautiful way to end the calendar year together.

Please register—it helps us know how many are coming.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Something sweet to share - cookies, pie, brownies, fresh or dried fruit
  • A mug for tea (There will be disposable cups in case you forget)
  • A tuperwear container or other vessel to take home some of the delicious treats that will be left over.
  • Something for the altar - a small photo or image, an object from nature, or any object that you'd like to present for the day and then take home with you as a reminder of your practice.
